Should We Change the Policy on Immigrants Now??

Should we have to change now?? Yesterday the LA Times put out an editorial on immigration. The U.S gives out about 50,000 green cards a year. This piece of paper is the most valuable paper in the U.S. It allows immigrants to permanently stay in the U.S. To be a recipient of a green card you have to at least have a high school education and win the lottery pick.

Straight to the point, the author feels they should abolish the “Diversity Visa” program. This would make them hand pick which immigrants are allowed to come over to our country, but they would make sure that they were going to be a great asset to the U.S and not someone that works for cheap labor.

Well I disagree with all of this. People don’t migrate over to the U.S. to mess up our work force; we did that on our own. They’re not coming over here with only a high school credit because they want to; it’s usually because they don’t have the money and a job that pays them enough to go beyond that. I read the comments of this article to see what others thought about this subject and most of them were upset because they felt the immigrants were taking jobs away from the American people. I don’t see it that way. I see it as people working hard for what they want and will take whatever steps they have to get there. Most of the citizens here are just too spoiled and need to get off there high horse and take the job that’s given to them.

The author says that we should auction off visa and give them to the highest bidder. Well if we did that than we would have hardly immigrants over here, which is there goal. Immigrants wouldn’t be able to come over here because they wouldn’t have enough money or speak enough English to bid in the auction.

This author is definitely talking to the upper class of America because the lower classes knows what it feels like to have to work real hard for what they want in the end. They sometimes have no opportunity for higher education for a long time or even higher paying jobs, but they worked hard and got there. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to get by.
